Article Stretching Materialities
Open Access Peer-Reviewed Article Published on the »Stretching Materialities« Exhibition's Process
»TATour« is the title of a virtual exhibition based on preliminary fieldwork we conducted in 2020 at the Tieranatomisches Theater in Berlin (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin). This collaborative inquiry served as a preamble to creating a physical exhibition in a museum space based in a former veterinary anatomical theater (Stretching Materialities, 2021-2022). Constrained by the COVID crisis, we invested our efforts in creating a digital tour that focused on the visible and invisible activities that remained there even when visitors could no longer access them. This recent paper by exhibition curators Maxime Le Calvé, Natalija Miodragović, Nina Samuel, Felix Sattler, Christian Stein, and Clemens Winkler, published in ethnographiques.org, issue 47, presents the production process for this immersive work, describes the creative process underlying this immersive work and its unusual approach to doing fieldwork through 360° fabulations inside an exhibition space, using sketching as a primary method.

Bei adocs ist die neue Publikation »WOLLBAU. Wolle – eine unterschätzte Ressource« von Folke Köbberling erschienen. »WOLLBAU« vereint künstlerische Projekte sowie kunsthistorische und kulturanthropologische Texte über das Schaf und die Wollverarbeitung. Darin enthalten ist unter anderen auch ein Beitrag von Clustermitglied Natalija Miodragović zum Thema »Wolle, Myzelium, Hanf und Erde«. Die Buchvorstellung wird am 8. Dezember in der Hansabibliothek stattfinden. Save the Date!

On July 15th, 2024, members from Bauhaus Earth and the research group »Architectural Yarns« exchanged common ideas and current projects with mutual visits to MoA's Activarium and the Marienpark Lab of Bauhaus Earth. The goal was to foster an exchange of ideas for potential collaborations, emphasizing the shared goals and innovative approaches in sustainable architecture and material design. Key overlapping areas of interest include the reuse of materials, circular resources, economic potentials, and rethinking aesthetics in housing, and building culture.

Workshop on Insulation Materials from Raw Wool With Folke Köbberling, Natalija Miodragovic, Stella Maxeiner und Andrija Mihailovic
Raw wool – an underestimated resource! In the workshop within the exhibition »An Example to Follow«, insulation materials against noise, cold and dirt are made. The raw materials sheep’s wool and clay are processed into protective walls against noise and exhaust fumes for Tempelhofer Feld. The workshop will be held in collaboration with MY-CO PLACE as well as with the Institute of Architecture-Related Arts at TU Braunschweig and the Mobile Biomaterial Lab with the support of the Department of Applied and Molecular Microbiology at TU Berlin.

Minimal Machines 2
Hygroscopic Hemp
The MoA Design Research Studio »Minimal Machines 2« investigated functional applications for the shape-change of hemp-rope under variant ambient humidity conditions. Hemp is a biogenic plant-based material. It displays hygrophilic behaviour meaning that it absorbs water from the environment and consequently changes shape.

Final Presentation of MoA Design Research Studio
On 5 July 2022 the final review of the MoA Design Research Studio »Minimal Machines 2 – Hygroscopic Hemp« took place at at weißensee school of art and design berlin. The MoA Design Research Studio »Minimal Machines 2« investigated functional applications for the shape-change of hemp-rope under variant ambient humidity conditions.
