Wolle – eine unterschätzte Ressource« von Folke Köbberling erschienen. »WOLLBAU« vereint künstlerische Projekte sowie kunsthistorische und kulturanthropologische Texte über das Schaf und die Wollverarbeitung. Darin enthalten ist unter anderen auch ein Beitrag von Clustermitglied Natalija Miodragović zum Thema »Wolle, Myzelium, Hanf und Erde«. Die Buchvorstellung wird am 8. Material Form Function | Weaving | Bauhaus | Biodesign | Climate | Circular Economies | Hemp | Textiles | Tangling | Wool | Yarns/Fibers On July 15th, 2024, members from Bauhaus Earth and the research group »Architectural Yarns« exchanged common ideas and current projects with mutual visits to MoA's Activarium and the Marienpark Lab of Bauhaus Earth. The goal was to foster an exchange of ideas for potential collaborations, emphasizing the shared goals and innovative approaches in sustainable architecture and material design. Key overlapping areas of interest include the reuse of materials, circular resources, economic potentials, and rethinking aesthetics in housing, and building culture. more

Filtering | Material Form Function | Wool | Circular Economies On June 1st, 2023, from 3 to 7 pm, at the Uferhallen in Wedding, the ›Activating Circular Networks‹ event series will kick off with »Talking Wool«: an event that brings designers, academics, politicians, and farmers together to discuss the issues surrounding European and local German wool, the problem of wool waste in particular, and fiber security. The workshop takes place within the ongoing group exhibition »Zur Nachahmung empfohlen - Erkundungen in Ästhetik und Nachhaltigkeit«. Our host for the event is professor and artist Folke Köbberling, an expert in exploring these challenges and potentials of coarse wool for years. more

Object Space Agency | Wool | Clay | Hemp Raw wool – an underestimated resource! In the workshop within the exhibition »An Example to Follow«, insulation materials against noise, cold and dirt are made. The raw materials sheep’s wool and clay are processed into protective walls against noise and exhaust fumes for Tempelhofer Feld. The workshop will be held in collaboration with MY-CO PLACE as well as with the Institute of Architecture-Related Arts at TU Braunschweig and the Mobile Biomaterial Lab with the support of the Department of Applied and Molecular Microbiology at TU Berlin. more

Filtering | Material Form Function | Object Space Agency | Wool In its 13th year, the international traveling exhibition »Examples to follow!« returns to its first stop for the 20th edition - enriched by the expertise of international artists and scientists. After stops on four continents, the exhibition finale will take place at Uferhallen Wedding from May 12th to July 16th: a core theme is the conventional construction industry's catastrophic share in the climate disaster. The exhibition will also feature works and talks by MoA researchers Dimitra Almpani-Lekka, Julia Blumenthal, Johanna Hehemeyer-Cürten, Vera Meyer, Natalija Miodragović, and Charlett Wenig. In addition, we are pleased to be part of the exhibition's dialog program with the workshop »Talking Wool - Wool in Exchange« organized by Lucy Norris, Khashayar Razghandi, and Hanna Wegener on June 1st. more

Weaving | Filtering | Material Form Function | Circular Economies | More-Than-Human | Wool | Yarns/Fibers | Tree Bark Transforming linear economies into resource, energy, and more-than-human friendly processes means to bridge different areas of expertise. Ongoing discussions in different Cluster research groups such as MFF, Filtering, Weaving etc. have shown the importance of involving the perspectives of various actors, practitioners and experts into further research processes. Promising solutions and insights for a new material economy and culture are facing similar problems when it comes to transfer them from laboratory to the market. (Material) engineers, designers and activists face numerous challenges in expanding their activities, be they technological, political, economic or social. Kicking-off in June 2023, a new series of events will connect members of the Cluster interested in critically exploring material sustainability concepts with different practitioners and stakeholders from outside the Academy, and foster knowledge exchange in both directions. more

We want visitors to experience our prototypes, making MoA’s intentions and research tangible and accessible. The »Activarium« serves as a work-in-progress showcase of different research strands and processes. Our visitors can dive into the research as it's happening before its published results.
