Prof. Dr. Heike Weber

Heike Weber is Professor for History of Technology at the Technische Universität Berlin. Her main research lies at the intersection of consumption history, environmental history and history of technology. She has worked on 20th century everyday technologies, the intersections of media and mobility history, and currently studies the history of waste, recycling and repair, thereby pushing history of technology beyond its traditional focus on production, consumption and use – towards issues of obsolescence, decay and disposal.

Recent publications include the volume Technikwenden. Historische Perspektiven auf soziotechnische Um- und Aufbrüche (2023, doi.org/10.5771/9783748942351) and the co-edited book The Persistence of Technology. Histories of Repair, Reuse and Disposal (Bielefeld 2021, doi.org/10.14361/9783839447413).
